MANON MAUJEAN
Clinical Psychologist & Psychotherapist

"I work as a clinical psychologist and psychotherapist. I received my training in France within a private clinic in a neonatology/maternity department and specialized in perinatal, child, adolescent, and disability psychology. Since settling in Mauritius in 2021, I now welcome clients of all ages.

Within the premises of New Born, located in the heart of a garden, I have chosen to focus on the dimension of disability.

In France, I had the opportunity to work for several years in a therapeutic farm where I accompanied young people with disabilities through various therapeutic interventions, including art therapy, equine therapy (therapy with horses), canine therapy (therapy with dogs), and interactions with farm animals.

I realized how animals can be true therapists and how nature also plays a crucial role in the healing process. Without judgment, they awaken the caregiving dimension, motor skills, and sensory experiences simply through their presence in therapy.

Being aware of the importance of the family dimension, I wanted to recreate a care approach in Mauritius that combines these two key elements: nature and animals, for young people with disabilities, while also providing a space for their parents and families.

As a result of our respective experiences, together with my colleague Louise Espitalier Noël and with the support of New Born, we have been able to conceive and create the "Autrement" project, a project that is dear to our hearts and that we invite you to discover."

Target audience: Children, adolescents, adults, and people with disabilities.
